Ben Harper!

The Ben Harper Show!

Monday night Mat and I were lucky enough to see Ben Harper up close and personal.
This was my very first time to see him (I have only been to about 4 concerts) and Mat had seen him open for Dave Mathews (Mat has been to over 100 concerts). Woo hoo, lucky us!
My employer gave us her tickets and we ran all the way to the show ;)
Side note: as most of you know we are adopting our kiddos from ET soon. With our budget being as tight as it is we have cut out the entertainment section of the budget- so we jumped right on this.
We stood in line from 6:15 to 7:30 in the heat on Colfax and it was well worth the wait.
We stood front and center/left, luckily we got there early to grab the good spot as it was PACKED. The Orbans were the opening band and we loved them, talked to Cliff the bass player after the show and he gave us a beer cozy.
We would love to see them again, awesome music.

We just barely made it into this picture.
We were just a little to the left and back a few behind the guy in the blue shirt who you can see right up front. Most of these pictures I took from his website (thank you Melissa Nicholson)- they turned out much better than ours, go figure ;)

I wish I could explain this show well but I know I won't do Ben Harper justice.
The man is so genuine and sincere. You can see the emotion on his face and in his eyes.
He received an insanely explosive welcome from the crowd and you could feel the ground and building vibrate...I know I am a bit of a concert going rookie but I believe this was a magical show for everyone. It was for me/us. An example...
there was one song in particular that Ben Harper was visibly emotional about- he said he would need a minute.
What does that song REALLY mean to him we wonder.

He sat up at the very front of the stage in this picture - he is so amazing!
Thank you to Ben Harper and the band for a truly phenomenal show.
I would encourage you to check out his tour schedule....he is not only the best performer and a truly talented musician but he has a good heart and soul...it emanates from his music and his words.
