Another Berry Family Fundraiser...Food, Fun and Games!

Details: $30 donation towards the Berry's upcoming adoption. You will receive a food and drink ticket. The party starts at noon, food will be served from 2-4pm. Blake Street Tavern is located one block North of Coors Field. Free parking in front of the tavern and in their private parking lot.

Games: FREE POKER TOURNAMENT with PRIZES, FREE CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT with PRIZES.

Raffle tickets available for purchase with great prizes from Snooze, Denver Nuggets Memorabilia, Cantina Laredo, Starbucks gift basket, Ed Hardy bag, 3 hours of cleaning from Maid to Please, Hollywood Theatres and many more.

Poker Tournament: Capped at 150 players, the first 50 players to RSVP will receive $1,000 in extra chips. The next 50 players (51-100) to RSVP will receive $500 in extra chips. Registration  will begin at noon and play will begin at 1:00pm.

Backyard Project

Day 1: Rocks

My employer is always very generous. Saturday she gave us the flagstone, moss rock, 2 small boulders and quartz from her backyard. We are so grateful to her because we could not have purchased them ourselves. She is very good to us.

Our God son Jeremy was there to help too! He and G (the boy I nanny for) are the same age (3) and played together so well while the big boys were doing the hard work (at my employers house-I did not take pictures there).

Tree dolley rental - $6. No back damage for the guys - priceless.

No more than they already have... Both Mat and Eric have serious back problems-

what were we ( was I ) thinking?

The rocks are much larger than how they appear in the pictures. I wish we could have weighed them.

Backyard Project Day 2: Demolition 

will happen on Monday April 18

Waiting...

for a phone call.

We are fast approaching our 12 month wait since we were approved from the Ethiopian government. The phone call that we are waiting for is to let us know if and when we need to update our homestudy and fingerprints. We cannot allow them to lapse in any way- this would mean horrible things for us trying to get out of the country. We wouldn't. This will of course mean more time and money, which we more or less expected .

And through all of this I can't help but think how sureal it all is. There are a lot of emotions, work, planning, researching, etc. But to think we will actually have a family after the dust settles is a little strange. Sometimes it's all we think about, we talk constantly about the what if's in every realm of our soon to be life. But the fact remains. You continue on with your own life as others sort through your paperwork and wait for someone to tell you the good news. I feel like it happens to other people, we see our friends receiving their referrals and bringing their babies home. But for us, it just doesn't seem real, like it won't happen. Not in a desperate or depressed way but a numb or naive way for some reason. It's a very odd feeling. Nevertheless, I am sure we will get the shocking and happy news and we will say (after we stop crying) "is this really happening?".

On a side note I was looking through old posts and found one of our favorite songs. And one that means so much to us if you listen to the words. One Tribe. 

And within a couple days the same question was asked of us-  "Why Ethiopia?"

"Because that's where our kids are!"
